Mowing in Garfield is defined by block size more than by turf species. On the village blocks near the railway and the township centre the work is conventional: a push or self-propelled mow, edging along paths and driveways, and a fortnightly cycle through the growing season easing back to monthly in winter. Beyond the township the job changes completely. On sloping ground toward Garfield North the constraint reverses and becomes safety, so we assess the fall on any paddock before committing a ride-on to it.
