Pressure cleaning for driveways, paths, patios and decking across Melbourne's south-east and the Dandenong Ranges. Moss, mould, lichen and algae thrive through a damp Melbourne winter, and a shaded driveway that has gone green is a slip hazard before it is an appearance problem. We clean it off at the right pressure for the surface, and seal afterwards where that makes sense. Fully insured, $20M public liability.

The winter job. Damp, shaded driveways, paths and steps go green and slippery through the wet months, and moss will lift and damage a surface if it is left in place.

Moss, mould, lichen and algae are a winter problem, and right now is when they are at their worst on damp, shaded surfaces. Cleaning is done through winter on dry days, with the honest caveats that surfaces dry more slowly and frost affects scheduling. Sealing is the part that needs a settled window: the surface has to be completely dry for 24 to 48 hours before sealer goes on, so we either wait for a clear run or book it for spring. If a path or driveway has become slippery underfoot, the clean is the job that should not wait for better weather.

Moss and algae need moisture more than they need anything else, so the fastest way to extend the time between cleans is to stop water sitting on the surface. On most properties the culprit is a blocked outlet: a gutter full of leaf and bark overflows, the water tracks down and across the paving below, and that strip stays damp all winter. We check downpipes and drainage as part of every hard surface job, and gutter cleaning is one of our own services, commonly booked into the same visit.
The other half is the canopy. Tannin-rich leaf drop from mountain ash, messmate and blackwood stains concrete brown and bonds into the surface if it is not removed while fresh, and a compressed leaf layer traps moisture against the paving. Where that is the pattern, seasonal leaf removal and canopy pruning within safe reach do more for the driveway than another clean will. Bulk material coming off site is handled through green and hard waste removal.
Pressure cleaning runs across the hills, where moss pressure is heaviest, including Belgrave, Sassafras, Monbulk, Avonsleigh, Gembrook and Emerald, and across the corridor estates in Pakenham, Officer, Berwick and Beaconsfield, where exposed aggregate is the common driveway finish.
